Learn all about tea! What is it, where does it grow, what are the differences between green, black, oolong & white teas? Did you know that all these types of tea come from the same plant Camellia Sinensis? Depending on the type (color) of tea there are different steeping rules.
Become familiarized with the many health benefits of tea and how to help shed a few extra pounds by drinking your favorite beverage!
Speakers - Alexis McMaster & Margaret Harris /Margaret's Fine Imports
Alexis is is a student at Pitt University, and she has been working at Margaret's Fine Imports tea store for over a year now. She has became very knowledgeable about the tea subject, and now in addition to helping customers choose their perfect tea(s), she also regularly teaches Level 1 & Level 2 Tea Classes.
Margaret Harris is the owner of Margaret's Fine Imports, a tea and gourmet food store in the Squirrel Hill district of Pittsburgh, PA (est. 2002). As one of Pittsburgh's primary tea experts, she is a tea consultant and has conducted classes and workshops on tea and its many aspects: ways of preparation, history, traditions, health benefits etc. As a native of Poland, where tea is the primary household beverage, Margaret’s lifelong experience began quite early: she had her first cup of fennel tea as a newborn baby. Margaret is a graduate of Warsaw Medical College. Her medical background comes in handy in her teaching experience, especially when it comes to the health aspects of tea & herbs. Margaret is a co-founding member of the Pittsburgh Tea Association.
